What is a content management system (CMS) and should I use one?
A content management system (CMS) is a publishing tool that operates online and allows anyone to go into the website and make changes (provided that they use the proper username and password). A CMS is operated through a web browser with no special software needed.
If you’re using a website builder such as WordPress or Wix, you won’t need to concern yourself with a CMS because that’s essentially what these builders are and the system is already built right in. If however, you’re using a web designer, you definitely want to make sure that you have one, or you may not be able to make changes to your own website. And every website owner should have access to their website.
