If you are thinking about using an autoresponder you may be a little confused about how this process actually works. This article will talk about the basics of how you get someone onto your list by using your autoresponder service.
Your first step is to have a page on your website where your visitor can subscribe to your list. This page is normally known as a landing page or squeeze page. It contains an offer that ‘squeezes’ the persons email address from them. They provide their address in return for your free video, report or ebook. This starts the process of getting your visitor onto a list inside your autoresponder account.
Once your visitor enters their address they will be sent an email to confirm that they do want to be on your list. Inside your account you will have set up an email that tells your subscriber this. This is your very first email that goes out to your list and it is sent automatically as soon as they opt-in.
As soon as they confirm, they will be added to your list as a subscriber. It is important to understand that not everyone will confirm, some people will just take your gift and never confirm. When this happens don’t worry about it, your goal is to create a list of people who are eager to hear from you.
When setting up your list it is a good idea to write and upload a sequence of ready to go emails. Most marketers recommend having at least 7 emails pre-loaded and they should be based around the free gift that you gave them.
You want to schedule these messages to go out around every second or third day. This way your subscriber gets used to receiving your emails and opening them up. Provide useful tips and information inside your emails and direct them back to your main site for additional information.
These emails are known as follow-up messages and you can add further messages at any time. As you add messages you can start to earn additional income by promoting or suggesting additional products or resources to your subscribers. This can be a great way to increase your income and build a good relationship with your subscribers.
As you launch new products or offers you will want to create new email lists inside your autoresponder account. This allows you to segment your lists and email each list separately if you wish. By targeting each list with appropriate information you will find that your readers will stay subscribed to your list for a longer period of time.
